Aligarh: In Aligarh Muslim University in UP, books by two authors from Pakistan and Egypt have been removed from the syllabus. These books were included in the syllabus of the Department of Islamic Studies. It has been decided to remove all the books of Pakistani author Maulana Abul Ala Maududi and Syed Qutb of Egypt from the syllabus. Let us tell you that till now these books have been taught in AMU’s BA and MA classes.
The AMU administration has taken this decision after various academicians of the country wrote letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In which there was a demand not to teach the students from the books of these authors.
Significantly, more than 20 educationists of the country, including social worker Madhu Kishwar, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In which academics objected to the teaching of books by Maulana Abul Ala Maududi and Syed Qutb of Egypt in several state-funded universities including AMU, Jamia Millia Islamia and Hamdard University.
