DRDO successfully flight-tested new generation ballistic missile ‘Agni Prime’

INDIA: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved another success by first pre induction night launching of the new generation ballistic missile Agni Prime. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has extended his wishes and congratulation the DRDO as well as the armed forces for their success. The Agni Prime missile was launched from the cost of Odisha. As per official statement by DRDO on Thursday, the Missile took off from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Covering the entire trajectory of the vehicle.

This was the first pre induction night launch conducted by the users. Previous to this, there were three successful development trials of the Missile. This is for validating the accuracy as well as reliability of the system. During this times flight test, all objectives were successfully demonstrator. A statement said Range instrumentation which includes Radar, Telemetry and Electro-Optical Tracking Systems were installed at different locations, in which were two down-range ships, at the terminal point to capture flight data covering the entire trajectory of the vehicle.

Capabilities of the new generation ballistic missile Agni Prime

The successful flight test has now confirmed the place for the induction of the system into the armed forces. This will prove to be a big boost for the Indian Army. This is happening at a time when continues threats from China and Pakistan are surfacing. As per defence ministry, the Missile is capable of attacking targets with a very high degree of precision. India has previously also developed various variants of the Agni series of missile. The name of new one is the Agni 1 ballistic missile. This missile has range of 700 km to 3300 km and it goes for all the Agni 1 to 4 missiles.

Senior officials from DRDO and Strategic Forces Command was present at the venue where the successful flight test was held. He praised the team. Secretary Department of Defence R&D & Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat also appreciated all the efforts put in by the complete teams of DRDO laboratories and the users involved in the test launch. This is a great display of the power of the Indian Army.
