India: India has for a long time stayed as the second most populated country in the world after China and now India has surpassed China as the most populated country with 2.9 million more people than that of in China. This data was collected from the United Nations population fund (UNFPA). As per the unfpa total population of India is 1,428.6 million.
On Wednesday World Population report was declared for 2023 by the unfpa which title the report as ‘8 Billion Lives, Infinite Possibilities: The Case for Rights and Choices’ where it stated the population figures of both India and China. In India the population stands at 1,428.6 million and China stands at 1,425.7 million.
Although India is the most populated among all, it still is seeing decline in the rate of population growth since 1980 says Anna Jefferys, media and crisis communications advisor, UNFPA. Even then this is the first time that India has overtaken China under this category since 1950.
As per the UNFPA report, 25% of India’s population is of the age 0-14, where as 18% is between 10-19 age, and 26% is of 10-24 age, 68% in 15-64, and 7% above 65.
