Seminar on ‘World Breastfeeding Week’ in District Women’s Hospital, important information shared

Gorakhpur: The mother must give her first thick yellow milk within an hour of birth, as it contains colostrum which develops immunity in the child. Mother’s milk is the first vaccine for the child. From birth to six months, the baby should be exclusively breastfed. From six months to two years of age, it is necessary to give complementary food as well as breast-feeding.
Speakers gave this message to pregnant and lactating women during a one-day seminar organized under World Breastfeeding Week at District Women’s Hospital. The seminar was organized in the District Women’s Hospital on Thursday.

Presiding over the seminar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Dubey said that mother’s milk is like nectar. It makes the child strong. He said that according to the National Family Health Survey-5 (2019-21) in the district, only 38.8 per cent children below the age of three have breastfed within an hour of birth. It’s a topic of concern This behavior has to be changed.
