Teacher recruitment scam: Arpita Mukherjee said – money received at home is not mine!

Arpita Mukherjee, arrested in the teacher recruitment scam case, has said that the cash found from her house does not belong to her and was kept there in her absence.

Significantly, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had recovered cash and other items of about Rs 50 crore from Mukherjee’s house.

During interrogation, Mukherjee had told that this money now belongs to Partha Chatterjee, who has been sacked from the West Bengal cabinet.

News agency ANI According to reports, Chatterjee told the ED that the cash received from his house was not his and was kept there in his absence. The agency suspects that this money has been raised from the teacher recruitment scam.

Chatterjee also said about not having his money

Before Mukherjee, Partha Chatterjee had said that it is not his money. On Sunday, Chatterjee claimed that he had no source of income and that the money received from Mukherjee’s residence during the raids was not his.

When Chatterjee, who came to the hospital on Sunday for a medical checkup, was asked if anyone was conspiring against him, he said it would be known when the time came.


What did TMC say on these claims?
Responding to Chatterjee’s claims, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) asked why Chatterjee was silent for so many days after his arrest.

Party’s state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said that tomorrow Chatterjee will say that he does not know Arpita Mukherjee. He has the right to prove his innocence by going to court. The party has nothing to do with this scam.

TMC took action against Partha Chatterjee
Since the arrest of Partha Chatterjee, the opposition has been continuously demanding action against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Meanwhile, Mamta Banerjee removed him from the post of Commerce and Industry Minister and dismissed him from all party posts.

Chatterjee was accused of illegal appointment of teachers and other staff in government schools, transfer and recognition of colleges by taking bribes while being the education minister.

Arpita Mukherjee is said to be close to Partha Chatterjee
ED has described Arpita Mukherjee as a ‘close aide’ of Partha Chatterjee. An actress by profession, Mukherjee has acted in a few Bengali and Oriya films.

She worked with Bengali superstar Jeet in 2008 film ‘Partner’ and Prasanjit Chatterjee in 2009 film ‘Mama Bagne’.
