Income Tax Department seized assets worth Rs 390 crore in Maharashtra.

A team of Income Tax Department has seized unaccounted assets worth Rs 390 crore while raiding the premises of industrialists involved in real estate including steel and textile production in Jalna, Maharashtra.

The seized assets include cash worth Rs 58 crore, 32 kg of gold and documents of diamonds, pearls, silver along with other properties.

The shocking thing is that the department team took about 13 hours to count the cash.

Income Tax Department conducted raids between August 3 and 8

According to sources in the Income Tax Department, around 300 officers and employees of the department conducted these raids between August 3 and 8.

The raids were carried out at the premises of Ghanshyam Goyal, founder and promoter of Jalna-based Kalika Steel Alloys Pvt Ltd, Shri Ram Steel, a co-operative bank, investor Vimalraj and dealer Pradeep Bora. Raids are still going on at Pradeep Bora and he is being questioned.

Cash found from farmhouse and bank locker

According to departmental sources, during the raid, Rs 58 crore was found from the farmhouse and bank locker of Ghanshyam Goyal and his associate.

Of these, Rs 28 crore has been received from the farmhouse and Rs 30 crore from the bank locker. Similarly, diamond and pearl jewelery worth Rs 14 crore has been recovered from his house.

Sources said that during the raids, the authorities have also recovered documents and digital data of some properties of the property.

Officers arrived by putting stickers of procession in vehicles

According to sources, five teams of 300 officials from across the state were formed to conduct raids after receiving information about alleged tax evasion by business groups.

More than 120 vehicles were used for the action. There were stickers of the procession with the name Rahul Weds Anjali on the windows of these vehicles.

The local people were also considering it as a convoy going to the wedding ceremony. The raid was carried out in secret.

Even the local police did not know

The Income Tax Department officials did not even inform the local police to keep the action a secret. The officers of the department continued to take action for three days. During this, the local police was informed after getting a large amount of cash.

13 hours to count cash

The officials reached the State Bank branch with bundles worth Rs 58 crore found during the raid. After this all the officers started counting the cash.

The counting of cash started at 11 in the morning and went on till 1 in the night. In such a situation, the counting of notes was completed in 13 hours.

After this the gold ornaments were called and the gold ornaments were weighed and after that their value was estimated. This is the biggest action taken in the district.

The company provides steel in many departments of the state

Kalika Steel and Alloy Company was established in the year 2003, located in Jalna district of Maharashtra. Its foundation was laid by the steel merchant Agarwal family.

Apart from Maharashtra, Kalika supplies steel to many countries of the world. Along with this, it supplies steel to institutions like Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPT), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Maharashtra.
