Everyone will try to make the Congress party stronger. “Our party president (Sonia Gandhi) announced the election,” said Kharge, who is close to the Gandhi family. Electoral authority was formed by selecting the representatives from all the places and preparing the electoral roll. Its 9100 delegates will elect the next president. Kharge clarified that the Gandhi family had no stake in this election. No one has their support.

Big claim by Tharoor
Congress presidential candidate Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday claimed that some leaders had asked former president Rahul Gandhi to ask him (Tharoor) to withdraw his nomination papers. In Kerala, Tharoor also said that Rahul Gandhi told the leaders who made such a request not to ask him to withdraw his nomination papers as contesting the elections would benefit the party. The Lok Sabha member from Thiruvananthapuram said, “He (Rahul) reminded me that for the last 10 years he has been saying that elections should be held for the post of party president.” “He (Rahul) also told me that some people have requested me to ask him to withdraw his nomination,” Tharoor claimed. He told me he wouldn’t do it. Rahul Gandhi said that he should not withdraw his nomination papers and should continue in the race.

Don’t want to withdraw from the election and betray…
Tharoor had earlier said that he never expected the support of big party leaders and still doesn’t, but he needs everyone’s support. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President K. Sudhakaran publicly announced that he would support Mallikarjun Kharge, Tharoor’s rival. Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha member Tharoor said that he does not want to betray those who have supported him so far by withdrawing from the election.

Tharoor said, “I didn’t expect any kind of support from the top party leaders and still don’t. In fact, I have met party workers in Nagpur, Wardha and Hyderabad before. They are asking me to contest the elections and not back down. I have assured them that I will not back down. Those who have supported me so far. I will not cheat. Their faith in me gives me the strength to move forward.

The Congress MP said that he needs everyone’s support but most of his supporters are youth leaders and party workers. Asked if Sudhakaran’s remark was meant to discourage his supporters, Tharoor replied. But I don’t do that. I can’t tell what goes through people’s minds. No matter what one says in secret or in public, only voting is secret. “Nobody knows who voted for whom. People can vote according to their will and faith. They can decide who to elect to strengthen the party and prepare for future challenges.
