Dhanalakshmi banned for three years
India’s top sprinter S Dhanalakshmi has been banned for three years. She had failed the dope test, after which the Athlete Integrity Unit (AIU) of World Athletics has taken this strict action against her.
Let us tell you that Dhanalakshmi’s sample was taken in May this year and she was temporarily banned last month.

Prohibited substance confirmed in Dhanalakshmi’s sample
Dhanalakshmi’s sample was taken on May 2 in Antalya, Turkey, where she trained with other Indian athletes. Her sample tested positive for an anabolic androgenic steroid (metandienone), which is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) banned list.
Let us tell you, the sample was tested in a WADA accredited laboratory in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Its Dhanalakshmi had failed the dope test.
Due to this, Dhanalakshmi was banned for three years.
Players are usually banned for four years in such cases of doping, but Dhanalakshmi has accepted the doping offense as well as the sanctions imposed on herself, due to which her ban period has been reduced.
“This athlete admitted to an anti-doping rule violation and signed the acceptance form on July 19, leading to a one-year reduction in his sentence,” the AIU said in a statement.
The ban started from July 11, 2022
The ban on Dhanalakshmi will be considered from July 11, 2022. She will not be able to represent India in any competition for the next three years. Also all their results/medals have been rejected since May 1, 2022.
Dhanalakshmi has defeated Dutee and Hima in the race
Tamil Nadu sprinter Dhanalakshmi came into the limelight after defeating Dutee Chand and Hima Das.
Dhanalakshmi had defeated Hima Das in both the women’s 100m and 200m races at the Erzurum Sprint International Cup 2022 in June. He completed 100 meters in 11.26 seconds and 200 meters in 23.26 seconds.
Earlier she had also defeated Dutee in the Federation Cup Senior National Athletics Championship in March last year.
