Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has received France’s highest civilian honour, the Chevalier de la L├ęgion d’honneur (The Legion of Honour).

Tharoor has been given this honor for his best writings and speeches. Tharoor himself has given this information by tweeting and has also thanked the people for the congratulations.

Tharoor tweeted about the respect

The French Order of Merit was established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. This honor is given for outstanding civil or military service.

Tharoor also received the honor from the Spanish government in 2010

Tharoor received a similar honor from the Spanish government in 2010, when the King of Spain presented him with the Encomienda of the Royal Spanish Order of Charles III.

Tharoor is a two-time Lok Sabha MP from Congress. He represents the Thiruvananthapuram constituency and is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs.
