The 92-year-old mahant of Ayodhya has been missing for 8 days and the CBI has demanded a probe into the murder, expressing apprehension over the murder.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, Jagadguru Parahamsacharya of Tapasvi Cantonment asked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to conduct a CBI inquiry into the missing Mahant.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Paramansacharya said that the 92-year-old Mahant had not gone anywhere outside the temple as he was an old man. He expressed concern over his murder. The management was also informed about this. He expressed concern over some untoward incidents of the Mahant. The police started searching for him from January 15 on the basis of information that he was missing. It is possible that Mahant ji went to Prayagraj to take bath. Now a police team has been sent to search for Prayagraj. The group is searching for them in several tents at the Maghamela.

Ayodhya Kotwali SHO Manoj Kumar said that the wires of the CCTV cameras installed in the temple have been cut. In addition, CCTV cameras are not installed even on the roads connecting to the temple, so it is difficult to find them. The SHO said that there is currently no information about any incident of violence with him. The interrogation of the priest and others is in progress.

On Tuesday, a printed poster of Mahant Ramsharan Das went missing, police said. It contains their complete information. Ayodhya has requested the Kotwali to inform about them. The age of the missing mahant is 92 years and his photo has been given along with his appearance.

Earlier on August 18, there was a dispute regarding possession of the Narasimha temple. In the meantime, it came to light that the bomb blast took place around 3 am. Then the police took 6 people into custody including the priest of the temple. Following the intervention of the monks, the Ayodhya Police had also registered a nominated case against 7 persons in this case on several serious charges including murder, possession of temple property. The Mahant’s disappearance is also linked to this controversy. SHO Manoj Kumar says that things including the CCTV cameras installed in the temple are being checked.
