India recently entered the Asia Cup as tournament favourites, but lost their first two ‘Super 4’ matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. After that he was eliminated from the tournament. “It’s 90-95 per cent done, just a few changes,” Rohit had said of the team combination after India’s second successive defeat. India’s only T20 World Cup victory came in 2007, but the team will be looking for a better performance in next month’s World Cup.

Before the T20 World Cup, India will play series against Australia and South Africa. Rohit also talked about Virat Kohli’s role in the team. While calling Kohli the team’s backup opener, he clarified that KL Rahul will continue to be his opening partner. Kohli, who has returned to form by opening the innings, has reignited the debate over whether he should be preferred to the batting regular over Rahul.

Rohit said- Rahul bhai and I are talking. Virat should open in some matches as he is our third opener. We saw what he did (as an opener) in the last match and we are definitely happy with that. Rohit said referring to Kohli’s century against Afghanistan. Rahul will open for us in T20 World Cup. We’re not going to test that scenario too much.
