Mayawati is now targeting EVMs, know why she wants all elections to be conducted through ballot paper?

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati on Sunday targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and raised questions about electronic voting machines (EVMs). They want elections to be conducted through ballot papers. Mayawati held a press conference at BSP’s state headquarters on Mall Avenue on Sunday as she celebrated her 67th birthday as ‘Jan Kalyan Diwas’. Questioning the intention of the ruling BJP, he said that the nefarious politics of improving the law and order situation across the country, including in Uttar Pradesh, is not hidden from anyone. The BSP leader strongly urged the Chief Election Commissioner to conduct elections through ballot paper, saying that there are various apprehensions among people about EVM-based elections in the country and it is better to remove them. The larger ones should be conducted here with the help of ballot papers as before.

Mayawati appealed to Dalits, OBCs, Muslims and other religious minorities to unite. The BSP leader said that on his birthday, he called on the people of Dalit, tribal, backward, Muslim and other religious minority communities. He said that it needs to be reminded that Baba Sahib Ambedkar, the original architect of the Indian Constitution and the messiah of the weaker and neglected sections, had given legal rights to the victims of the caste system to stand up and have self-respect. On his own feet. They should create brotherhood among them and take the ‘master key’ of power and politics at the Centre. Earlier, Mayawati had raised questions about the role of EVMs. Now, regarding the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024, he is once again adamant on the demand for elections to be held through ballot papers.

The BSP leader launched a direct attack on the Congress, BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP). He said that the experience so far shows that due to these caste regimes, the people of these sections are not getting the proper benefit of the legal rights provided by the constitution. Mayawati said that since the beginning, the opposition parties including Congress, BJP and SP have not lived up to their constitutional responsibility, particularly on reservation. The approach of these parties is casteist and brutal, not only in terms of implementation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes reservations, but also in terms of reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Mayawati also said that the Mandal Commission report was not allowed to be implemented in the Congress-led government. SC-ST reservation is nullified. Now the BJP is also following the path of the Congress in this regard and doing grossly unfair work. This also affected the Uttar Pradesh local elections. Describing the main opposition party SP as an enemy of the most backward, Mayawati said that not only this, the SP-led government has cheated the most backward people here by not providing full rights. During the SP government, initiatives were taken to exclude 17 other backward castes from OBCs and include them in Scheduled Castes and abolish OBC reservation for their families.

The BSP chief said that these castes cannot join OBCs or Scheduled Castes. After the SP-led government was reprimanded by the court for this, these castes returned to their old position. He alleged that the SP-led government in the state ended reservation in promotion and tore up its bill in Parliament. You all know that my party members celebrate my birthday on January 15, the first month of every new year, Mayawati said. For the first time, I express my heartfelt gratitude to my well-wishers and especially to the people of BSP who are celebrating my birthday across the country following the covid-19 rules this time as well.

“I dedicated my life keeping in mind the humanitarian thought and movement of Mahatma Phule, Sahuji Maharaj, Narayana Guru, Baba Sahib Ambedkar and Kanshiram, under which they (BSP workers) are celebrating my birthday today as ‘Public Welfare Day,’” Mayawati said. Celebrating as They help the poor, helpless and other disadvantaged financially according to their ability this time too. The former chief minister said that our party is fighting for the poor, the helpless and the weak. Following these ideas, the government was formed in the state four times under the leadership of BSP.

On the occasion of my birthday, the government led by my party has launched many new projects of public interest, Mayathvi said. But it is well known that the caste, parochial, communal and capitalist minded opposition parties did not like this and they single-handedly prevented the BSP from coming to power by adopting a policy of equal price-penalty-discrimination and many other tactics.
