IND vs NZ 1st ODI Highlights: 1444 day wait ends… Bracewell’s century hits Siraj, India wins in thrilling match.

Hyderabad: Opener Shubman Gill’s maiden double century and Mohammad Siraj’s strong bowling helped India crush New Zealand by 12 runs in the first ODI. It was almost 4 years that India won an ODI against New Zealand. India last defeated New Zealand in this format on February 3, 2019. Since then India have lost 5 matches, two of which have been decided. India won the toss and batted first and scored 349 runs with the help of Gill’s innings of 208 runs. In reply, New Zealand lost consecutive wickets. But then Michael Bracewell scored a 57-ball century. The player scored 140 runs off 78 balls. In the last over, the team’s innings was limited to 337 runs. With the win, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Gill didn’t get along

Opener Shubman Gill faced 149 balls and scored 208 runs with 19 fours and nine sixes. From the crease throughout the innings, the other side did not provide support. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 34 off 38 balls to become the second highest scorer in the innings. After completing 150 runs, Gill hit six sixes in his innings. It was his second straight three-point inning.

It was a great match between the Indian openers and the New Zealand pacers, with the hosts scoring 52 runs without losing a wicket in the first 10 overs. Lockie Ferguson bowled at a good pace but Rohit and Gill hit occasional boundaries. Rohit dismissed Henry Shipley (2/74) for two sixes. Gill was given life by New Zealand

Ishan Kishan was dismissed in the middle order but he too could not stay at the crease for long and was dismissed by wicketkeeper Tom Latham caught by Ferguson. Suryakumar Yadav who came to the crease (31 runs) increased the run rate of the innings along with Gill. At 45, Gill still got life when Latham missed a stumping chance. But since then Gill hasn’t looked back and has used his favorite pull shots against the fast bowlers and used his legs against the spinners.

Gill completed his third ODI century by one run. Gill shared a 74-run partnership with Hardik Pandya (28) after Suryakumar returned to the pavilion. Hardik was dismissed badly, Santner missed a cut shot and Bailes fell, prompting New Zealand to appeal for bowling. Latham thought the balls might have fallen out of his gloves, but he wasn’t sure. The third umpire gave the decision in favor of the visiting team. Gill reached his 150 with a six off Bracewell. After this achievement, he started batting freely and reached the milestone of 200 runs with three consecutive sixes in the 49th over. India added 57 runs in the last five overs. Shipley and Darrell Mitchell took 2 wickets each.

After six overs, New Zealand showed strength

Mohammad Siraj again picked up a wicket for India in the powerplay. He dismissed Devon Conway, who scored a century in Pakistan, on a bouncer. The team’s score was 42 runs in 10 overs. Hardik Pandya conceded 20 runs in the eleventh over. But when Rohit dismissed Shardul in the 13th over, he fell victim to Finn Allen. The player scored 40 runs off 39 balls. Glenn Phillips hit a six as soon as he came on. But after taking only 11 runs off 20 balls, Mohammad Shami was out. This is the second fastest century against India in ODI cricket. Afridi achieved this achievement from 45 balls.

Santner completed his fifty in 38 balls. The duo shared a partnership of 162 runs off 102 balls. Santner (57) was sent back by Mohammad Siraj after throwing the tossed ball. Suryakumar Yadav takes his catch. Siraj also dismissed Shipley in the same over. But Bracewell didn’t give up. New Zealand needed 20 runs to win in the last over. He hit a six off the first ball, but then Shardul Thakur LBW sealed New Zealand’s innings. India won the match by 12 runs. Mohammad Siraj took 4 wickets. Bracewell scored 140 runs with 12 fours and 10 sixes.
