Emmanuel Macron News: This is not the time for war… PM Modi’s statement resonates at UN, French president lauds

New York:Standing in front of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on war echoed in the UN General Assembly. Addressing the General Assembly, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Prime Minister Modi was right when he said that this is not the time for war, not for revenge against the West or for pitting the West against the East. He said it is time to face the challenges facing sovereign countries like ours. Macron also strongly criticized Russia in the war in Ukraine.

What did PM Modi say?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting held in Samarkand. Meanwhile PM Modi openly said that today’s age is not war age and I have spoken to you on phone. Putin told PM Modi that he was aware of India’s concerns over the war in Ukraine and that Russia would do everything possible to end it as soon as possible. Let us tell you that on February 24, Russia announced a special military operation in Ukraine.

The invasion of Russia points to imperialism
Emmanuel Macron said at UNGA that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine marked the era of imperialism. “What we have seen since February 24 is a return to the era of imperialism and colonialism,” he said. France will oppose this and work tirelessly for peace. He also opposed Putin’s hopes of holding a referendum in the Russian-controlled east of Ukraine. He said that Ukraine has rights to those territories and Russia should not occupy them.

Macron said – the global system is collapsing
Those who now remain silent about this new imperialism or covertly engage in it are showing a new fashion of destroying the global order, without which peace is not possible, Macron said. “It is time for sovereign nations like us to face the challenges before us,” Macron said.
