Badamba-Nursinghpur MLA and former minister Debi Prasad Mishra confirmed the death of a woman in the stampede. He said that 45-year-old Anjana Swain died in the incident and four seriously injured people were admitted to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack city.
Others who were injured have been admitted to the community center in Badamba, Mishra said. Athgarh SDM Hemant Kumar Swain said that there was a sudden rush of devotees, including women and children, who came to see Singnath.
After two years, the district administration said that due to the Kovid-19 outbreak, there was a huge rush as people came to visit the temple. The SDM informed that a large number of devotees from Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal, Budh and Nayagarh districts are visiting the temple.
