Volkswagen’s new electric ID.4 spotted
German carmaker Volkswagen is preparing to bring its first electric car to the Indian market. Some time ago, the company’s brand director Ashish Gupta had also given this information to the media.
Now this car has been spotted during testing, which shows that this new electric car is an SUV model.
Volkswagen named it ID.4.
How will this electric SUV look?
The top spec variant of the Volkswagen ID.4, the GTX, has been spotted during testing. Talking about its design, it has a blacked out front grille, wrap around LEDs, sleek LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRL) and a large mustache-like air dam down the front.
Apart from these, wheel arches in black color and cladding in body color are available on the side profile. It will have a length of 4.5 meters and a wheelbase of 2.7 inches.
What features will this car come with?
Many signature design elements of the company will also be seen in the cabin of this SUV. It gets a digital instrument cluster with electric theme, steering wheel mounted controls, ambient lighting, leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, power front seats, cruise control, rear AC vents, full-touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Like a cabin equipped with many modern features will be available.
For the safety of the passengers, features like crash sensor, parking sensors, ABS and ESC will be provided in it.
There will be difference between Indian and global model
The Volkswagen ID.4 will be a bit different from its global models. According to the report, this car will be launched in India with different motor variants. These will have the capacity to make 146bhp to 299bhp power and 220Nm to 310Nm torque.
It will be available in both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (AWD). The report states that the spotted GTX model was given a 77kWh battery pack with AWD.
Single charge range will be more than 400 kms
The Volkswagen ID.4 will offer a single charge range of around 300 to 450 kms depending on the variant. DC ultra-fast charging will be available in all its variants, so that it will be able to charge in less than 35 minutes.
Information about the price and availability of this car in the Indian market will be given at the time of its launch. However, it is being speculated that its starting price can be around Rs 25 lakh.
Mahindra & Mahindra has joined hands with Volkswagen for batteries and parts for its electric vehicles. According to the information, Mahindra will equip its Born EV platform with Volkswagen’s MEB electric parts such as electric motor, battery system and battery cell.
