Toyota Innova Hybrid look revealed before debut, know features

Toyota Motor is gearing up for its second major car launch this year, following the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. To offer cleaner mobility options, Toyota will offer a flagship model Innova with hybrid power. The three-row MPV, possibly dubbed the Innova HyCross, will debut in India later this month. The Innova hybrid model will also be launched concurrently in other Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia, where Toyota has unveiled a new MPV.

After teasing the redesigned front end a few days ago, Toyota now has a sneak peek at the silhouette profile of the Innova HyCross SUV. It promises a strong character line and large wheel arches across the side panels.

Previous teasers show how the upcoming Innova looks radically different from the Innova Crysta currently sold in India. Clearly inspired by the design of the Toyota Corolla Cross sold in the global market. It comes with an upright hexagonal grille, stylish LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a strong pleated bonnet for a more SUV-like look.

The new Innova will likely be based on the same Global TNGA-C platform that Toyota uses for its Corolla. The introduction of hybrid powertrains means more funding for individual and commercial owners of MPVs. It will most likely be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with the hybrid or powerful hybrid powertrain used in the HyRyder.

The new Toyota Innova MPV has already been tested several times in the recent past. The spy shots didn’t give much information about the upcoming MPV, except for the large alloy wheels that are also used on newer Toyota models. It could debut this month, but the actual launch of the Innova HyCross could take longer. Toyota could officially announce pricing at next year’s Auto Expo, which is set to resume after a nearly five-year hiatus.

The new Innova is also expected to come with a larger list of features than are offered in the old model. Toyota could include a new infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree parking camera, ventilated seats and a sunroof, among other things.
