Toyota HyRyder Base Variant all details, platform, design, interiors and price

Toyota recently launched the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and several tour videos of the various trims are now falling on the internet. In general, one of the most interesting trims of any new launch is the base trim, which in most cases is the most value-for-money option. Prices for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder start at INR 10.48 lakhs and start at INR 18.99 lakhs for the ex-showroom price.

The YT channel, The Car Show, has now produced a tour video of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder’s base trim, the E MT 2 WD Neo Drive. The video clearly shows how the E MT trim looks aesthetically and what all the features of the package are.

Speaking of the E MT base trim, it is mated to a 1.5-liter K-series petrol motor supplied by Maruti as standard. You also get an integrated starter generator setup to help you get the mild hybrid tag. The 6-speed AT option is only available on the S trim and above, so transmission options are limited to a 5-speed manual transmission only. The gasoline motor is capable of producing an output of 103PS and a maximum torque of 136.8Nm.

The E MT looks smart aesthetically, despite being a standard trim. But it’s missing some premium features that give up the fact that it’s a base model. First of all, the trim is equipped with bi-halogen projector headlamps instead of LEDs. It uses 17-inch steel wheels instead of higher grade alloys.

Some of the key features available on the model include LED position lamps, twin LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, ORVM with turn indicators, roof end spoilers, body colored door handles and shark fin antennas. All of these combine to enhance the look and feel of the Hyryder’s base trim.

The safety kit in the base trim consists extensively of dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS with EBD, heel hold control, vehicle stability control, day/night IRVM (manually adjustable) and rear parking sensors. Despite being a standard trim, the Hyryder E MT offers reclining seats, keyless entry, push-button start/stop function, electrically folding exterior mirrors, 60:40 split second-row seats and ample storage space.

To justify the basic trim tag, Toyota has reduced interior features. You are completely missing the infotainment system. However, Toyota has provided a slot to complete the aftermarket mounting, which will be a cheaper alternative for customers. Other notable features include adjustable telescopic power steering, automatic air conditioning, rear AC vents, PM 2.5 filter and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.

Speaking of competition, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder’s main rivals are the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Some segment-priority features on the Hyryder and Grand Vitara include the option of an AWD setup or a powerful hybrid powertrain (available separately).
