Tata Punch will be getting 2 New Rivals In 2023, Maruti, Hyundai

Launched in October 2021, the Tata Punch mini SUV is creating volume for the domestically grown automaker. The model line-up comes in four trims: an 86bhp, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine and two gearbox options. Currently Punch is available within the price range of Rs 6 lakh – Rs 9.54 lakh (all, ex-showroom). In 2023, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India announce their entry into the mini SUV segment to challenge Tata Punch. Here are some key details about the upcoming Tata Punch rivals.

Maruti Baleno Cross

Maruti Suzuki’s new sub-midsize SUV will make its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The model name is expected to be Maruti Baleno Cross. It will likely feature the new Suzuki design language and share an interior layout and features with the Baleno hatchback. The new Maruti mini SUV is based on the Heartect platform. Under the hood is reported to be fitted with a 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine that meets BS6 emission standards. The carmaker could also launch the Baleno Cross with a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol (89bhp/113Nm) or 1.5L dual-jet petrol (102bhp) engine. It is expected to be sold within the price range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 11 lakh through Nexa dealerships.

Hyundai Mini SUV

If reports are to be believed, the Korean automaker could show off an all-new mini SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. Known internally as the Hyundai Ai3, this model will share a base with the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. It will be the smallest Hyundai SUV in Korea. Some of the design elements, features and components will be borrowed from Hyundai Casper sold in select global markets. But the new Hyundai mini-SUV with Indian specifications is going to be bigger. For power, the Ai3 micro SUV is available with a 1.2L petrol engine good for 82bhp and 114Nm. It is the same powertrain as the Grand i10 Nios. Also available with CNG fuel option.
