Tata Punch Electric will soon be launched in India, know price and launch date

Tata Motors currently dominates the electric passenger vehicle segment with over 80% market share. The company aims to produce 1 million electric vehicles domestically to meet growing demand. Tata Motors currently sells the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max. The domestic automaker has confirmed that Punch Electric will soon be joining its EV fleet.

For reference, Tata Motors showed off an Altroz electric pre-production model at the 2020 Auto Expo. In fact, the production-ready model has already been seen testing on Indian roads several times. Punch EV is expected to be released before Altoz EV. Expect the new Tata Punch EV to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo. It will be located between Tiger EV and Nexon EV Prime.

The Tata Punch EV will compete directly with the Citroën eC3, which is expected to launch in Q1 2023. Reports suggest that the electric punch could come in two battery options and offer a range of around 300km to 350km. The Punch EV will be Tata’s first EV based on the latest ALFA modular platform. The ALFA platform is compatible with a range of body styles and engine options including electric, ICE and hybrid. This platform also underpins the Altroz hatchback.

The Punch EV will most likely share features from the ICE version. It’s expected to feature a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic AC, electric ORVM, cruise control, front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and more. This model is also expected to get multi-mode regenerative braking, traction control, iTPMS, leather upholstery and more.

The ICE version of Tata Punch is priced from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.54 lakh. We estimate the cost of the new Tata Punch EV to be around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 13 lakh.
