Skoda’s popular sedan Octavia to come in an electric version, unveil after 2025 as per reports

Leading automaker Skoda will unveil an electric version of its popular sedan Octavia after 2025. The new electric sedan is believed to be based on Volkswagen’s Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), reports the Hindustan Times’ automotive website Auto HT.

According to the report, the electric Skoda Octavia is expected to be equipped with a more advanced battery pack than the Skoda Vision 7S concept vehicle. The new electric sedan is expected to be powered by dual electric motors mounted on the front wheels. RS derivatives can be added to the rear to give the vehicle a four-wheel drive setup. The company has already partially electrified the Octavia by introducing a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Klaus Zellmer, head of the Czech automaker, said the company is also developing an all-electric version of the Skoda Fabia. The Auto HT report adds that it plans to launch an EV model in the second half of this year. According to the report, the new Skoda Fabia EV will offer a new design format that automakers have been following since the launch of the Vision 7S concept vehicle.

Skoda president said the electric car could look like a crossover compared to the current model, which is actually a hatchback. He explained that cost will be one of the main challenges in the production of electric vehicles. He added that the biggest problem with producing a car the size of Fabia is the cost of a battery-powered vehicle.
