Royal Enfield has finally announced the launch date of their upcoming 650cc cruiser motorcycle, the Super Meteor 650. The Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer plans to launch this new product on 16 January 2023. We have already brought you a first look review of this motorcycle. . This time we tell you what to expect from the Indian-spec Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650.

Variants and Color

The new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is sold in two models, Standard and Tourer. The standard version comes in five color options: Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Gray and Interstellar Green. Meanwhile, the Super Meteor 650 Tourer featuring additional accessories such as a long windscreen and passenger backrest will be sold in two paint options: Celestial Red and Celestial Blue.

The new Super Meteor 650 shares a 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled motor with the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Coupled with a six-speed gearbox, this motor is the Super Meteor 650. The engine is the same as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, but the Super Meteor 650 will have a different engine map. Also, the gearboxes have different ratios.


Both variants of the Super Meteor 650 featured a typical cruise design. Styling elements consist of round headlights at the front, a curved fuel tank with 3D logo, split style seats and double-sided exhaust pipes. The Tourer version benefits more from touring-focused hardware, such as a longer windscreen for better windshield protection and a passenger backrest for enhanced comfort. Meanwhile, the switchgear’s aluminum finish adds a premium feel to the package.


The feature list is a step above the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, and these motorcycles come standard with LED headlights. Additionally, this is the first 650cc Royal Enfield motorcycle to feature the company’s Tripper navigation system. The standard turn indicators are bulb-type conventional units. However, buyers can purchase LED indicators as an additional option. Rider aids are standard, and the Super Meteor 650’s safety net consists of dual-channel ABS.


The hardware is also different from the existing 650cc Royal Enfield motorcycles, and the Super Meteor 650 is also the first Royal Enfield motorcycle to use alloy wheels instead of the wire spoke units of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Get an inverted front fork. Meanwhile, the rear continues to use double-sided rear springs. The Super Meteor 650’s braking setup then consists of a single disc on both wheels with ByBre sourced calipers. The aforementioned safety net includes dual-channel ABS.
