Bengaluru: Ola Electric launched its electric scooter S1 Pro in August 2021, which created quite a buzz among the environmentally conscious community. With a top speed of 115 km/h and a range of up to 181 km on a single charge, the S1 Pro is one of the most powerful and efficient electric scooters on the market. However, it has now been discovered that the scooter’s battery pack costs a staggering Rs. 87,298, which is a significant portion of the scooter’s total cost.
As per report by Cartoq, a major automotive news website, a customer who booked an Ola S1 Pro electric scooter shared a screenshot of their invoice showing the price of the battery pack. The invoice shows that the customer paid Rs. For the Ola S1 Pro, it costs $1,28,373 including the scooter and battery pack. Of these, only the battery pack is 1,000 won. 87,298, or about 68% of the total cost.
Battery Range and Prices
The high cost of battery packs has raised concerns among potential customers who are already hesitant to switch to electric vehicles because of the high initial cost. The Ola S1 Pro costs Rs. However, it remains to be seen whether the high cost of battery packs will discourage potential customers from purchasing the scooter.
