Mahindra and Mahindra will launch the long-awaited Mahindra XUV400 electric vehicle on September 8, 2022. The automaker will likely expand India’s mass-market electric vehicle base, which is currently dominated by Tata Nexon EV. Mahindra first showed off an upcoming EV at the 2020 Auto Expo, but the final production model will likely have an updated design boasting more than 400 per charge range.
The Mahindra XUV400 is essentially an electric version of the XUV300 sub-compact SUV, and will likely be larger, at least in terms of length. It is speculated that this SUV will carry a larger trunk than its predecessor.
Talking about design, automakers have tightly wrapped their upcoming EV cars. However, the Mahindra XUV400 is expected to incorporate a solid grille with the Twin Peaks logo, a projector headlight unit and an L-shaped DRL.
Reportedly, the Mahindra XUV400 has two battery options. However, no specific information has been released yet. The larger of the two batteries is expected to help this four-wheeled vehicle have a single charge range in excess of 400 km.
In addition, Mahindra’s next electric vehicle is expected to be full of various functions as it is the first electric vehicle targeting individual customers. After its launch, this SUV is expected to compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV. The upper model will likely offer almost the same range while lowering the MG ZS EV in terms of price as well.
As we saw in the earlier spy shots, the XUV 400 is expected to continue a design similar to what was first seen in the eXUV300 concept exhibited at Auto Expo 2020. It was decided to equip the four-wheeled vehicle with electric technology without compromising space and practicality.
Meanwhile, Mahindra recently launched the Scorpio Classic in India. This SUV comes with a restyled front bumper, new LED DRLs and Mahindra’s ‘Twin Peaks’ logo. The SUV is available in two variants: the entry-level Classic S and the fully loaded Classic S11.
