Mahindra Scorpio Classic launched, price lesser compared to the previous model

Mahindra Scorpio Classic launched

Veteran automaker Mahindra last month launched the Scorpio in a new luxury avatar as the Scorpio-N. Since then questions were being raised about its previous model, when and at what price it would be relaunched?

Finally, after a long wait, Mahindra has put these questions to rest and launched the Scorpio Classic with new prices.

Now the customers will have two new models of this car.

Scorpio Classic available in two variants

This powerful SUV of Mahindra was launched in the country for the first time in the year 2002. Since then it has proved to be the most successful car in India for the company.

The Scorpio Classic will be available for sale in the market with two new variants S and S11.

To draw attention to it at first glance, Mahindra has given a new logo of the company along with the new Scorpio-N front grille, giving it a completely new look.

Classic gets new aluminum design engine

The new Scorpio Classic gets a completely aluminum design second generation 2.2 liter m-Hawk diesel engine.

The company says that this engine is now 55 kg lighter due to being made of aluminum and gives 14 percent more mileage than the old Scorpio.

Earlier this engine used to make 120bhp power in the lower trims, which will now make 130bhp power and 300Nm torque in the Scorpio Classic. Only manual gearbox option will be available in this.

Will the seven-seat arrangement continue in the Classic?

Two types of seat arrangement options have been made available in the Scorpio Classic. One, like the Scorpio-N, with a second row captain seat and a front facing three-passenger seat at the rear.

The second option gets the Scorpio’s signature seven-seat arrangement (two side seats in the third row) similar to the old model.

Significantly, Mahindra has given front facing seats in the third row to increase the safety rating of the Scorpio-N.

At what cost was the Scorpio Classic launched?

The Scorpio Classic is now available in five different color options – Pearl White, Napoli Black, Red Rays, D’Sat Silver and Galaxy Grey.

Mahindra has placed the Scorpio Classic below the big-daddy Scorpio-N in terms of specs and its prices have also come down compared to earlier.

The ex-showroom price of the S variant of the Classic is Rs 11.99 lakh and the S11 has been kept at Rs 15.49 lakh. According to the company, these initial prices will be increased soon.
