Lexus launched the LX 500d in India at Rs 2.82 crore (ex-showroom) and is expected to deliver the first batch of the luxury SUV between January and March 2023. Japanese automakers will be participating in Auto Expo for the first time. , will showcase the LX 500d alongside the upcoming RX SUV and LC Coupe.
Lexus LX 500d SUV: Exterior
Essentially a more upscale alternative to the popular Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, the Lexus LX 500d gets a chunky yet stylish design with square wheel arches and an upright body replete with large alloy wheels. The SUV takes distinctive Lexus design cues, including a large Lexus signature grille and headlamp design.
The LX 500d has a similar profile to the LC300, but has slightly different rear quarter windows. At the rear, the LX sports a connected light bar and has Lexus lettering in place of a logo on the tailgate.

Lexus LX 500d SUV: Interior and Features
The Lexus LX 500d is available in four colors to choose from inside: tan, red, black and a combination of white and brown. The LX is offered worldwide in both 5- and 7-seater configurations, but only the former in India.
Inside, the LX 500d gets a twin-screen setup with the top 12.3-inch unit acting as the infotainment system and the bottom 7.0-inch unit showing off-road data and climate control. The instrument panel also has an 8.0-inch multi-information display. Rear-seat passengers also get two 11.6-inch touchscreens with wireless remote control.
Lexus LX 500d SUV: diesel only for now
The previous generation LX was offered as LX 450d diesel and LX 570 petrol models. However, with the introduction of the BS6 standard, Lexus discontinued diesel engines. However, Lexus now only offers a diesel model, the LX 500d, rather than the LX 600 petrol model.
The LX 500d uses the same 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel engine as the latest Land Cruiser. It produces 309 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The LX comes standard with all-wheel drive along with a multi-terrain mode for off-roading. It also offers several drive modes such as Normal, Eco, Comfort, Sport S, Sport S+ and custom mode.
Lexus LX 500d SUV: India’s Rival
Lexus’ new luxury SUV competes with the long wheelbase version of the new Range Rover and is priced at Rs 2.56 crore-3.43 crore (ex-showroom). It will also compete with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 priced at Rs 2.92 crore (ex-showroom).
