Hyundai Ai3, small and affordable SUV spied for the first time, know features

Hyundai Motor Company is preparing a new compact SUV for the Indian market. Positioned under the Venue compact SUV, Hyundai’s new compact SUV will compete with the Tata Punch and the upcoming Maruti Baleno Cross. For those who don’t know, Hyundai already sells the Casper Micro SUV in South Korea. However, the India-spec model will be a completely new model. The new micro SUV, called Hyundai Ai3 internally, will likely be unveiled at Auto Expo 2023.

Hyundai Motor’s Ai3 micro SUV, which is about to make its official debut, was captured in Korea. The spy footage was shared online on the YouTube channel @acgoon and confirms that the Indian-spec model differs significantly from the Hyundai Casper. Spy footage has revealed that the new model will have design similarities to the Venue compact SUV. In fact, it looks like a mini place.

The new Hyundai Ai3 sub-midsize SUV is based on the localized K1 platform that underpins the recently discontinued Santro hatchback. The compact SUV could be the brand’s new entry-level model in our market. In terms of styling, the new Hyundai micro-SUV gets projector headlamps, LED DRLs, a rectangular-shaped headlamp unit, and a different style of rear taillights. The Casper has round headlamps and C-pillar mounted rear door handles. On the other hand, the rear door handle is placed in its original position.

The Hyundai Casper micro SUV measures 3595 mm long, 1595 mm wide and 1575 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2400. However, the Indian-specification model will be between 3.7 and 3.8m in length and will likely have a longer wheelbase.

The Indian-spec Hyundai Ai3 sub-midsize SUV will likely share features with the Grand i10 Nios and Venue compact SUVs. Features such as an LED lighting system, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, an electronic sunroof, and automatic air conditioning are expected. The vehicle can be equipped with six airbags as standard along with ABS with EBD. The addition of a single-pane sunroof would give the modern compact SUV a competitive edge over the Tata Punch.

The Korean Hyundai Casper offers two engine options: a 75 horsepower 1.0L naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 99 horsepower 1.0L turbocharged gasoline engine. Indian-spec models will likely source engine options alongside the Grand i10 Nios. You’ll most likely get the 1.2L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine producing 81bhp and 114Nm of torque. The company can also offer a CNG version of the micro SUV. Both manual and AMT gearbox options are available.
