Honda to launch first electric scooter next year
Legendary two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is all set to enter the electric segment.
Currently, the company is working on an electric variant of the Activa scooter and if reports are to be believed, it will be launched in the Indian market by next year. It will compete with the already existing Bajaj Chetak electric scooter.
Honda is expected to boost sales with the entry of the EV space with the Activa nameplate.

Recently, HMSI President Atsushi Ogata also gave information about this. “We will be able to see a genuine HMSI EV product within the next financial year,” he said in an interview.
What will be the design of Activa electric scooter?
According to the information, the design of Activa electric scooter will be similar to its base model.
It can get indicator-mounted front apron, flat-type seat, silver grab rail and under-seat storage compartment.
At the same time, the new scooter can also see a semi-digital instrument cluster, an LED headlight, 12-inch front and 10-inch mixed metal alloy wheels at the rear.
Suspension will be provided with telescopic forks at the front and a 3-step adjustable spring-loaded hydraulic unit at the rear end.
The swappable battery will be used in the scooter
According to the information, the Honda Activa electric scooter will come with a swappable battery. Honda’s EV space has several big plans to replace a fully charged battery with a discharged battery.
Honda has already set up a new subsidiary to manufacture battery packs. In addition, a capital of Rs 135 crore has been invested for this. The new subsidiary is registered in Bangalore.
Just on July 8, two-wheeler manufacturer Honda has launched the new CB300F motorcycle in the country. After this the company is also going to introduce a new scooter.
If reports are to be believed, it could be Activa 7G. It is currently the best selling scooter of the company in the country.
