Force Motors, India’s largest van manufacturer, has unveiled Urbania, its next-generation mobility platform. It was presented at a recent dealer meeting organized in Indore. The event consisted of factory visits and test drives, attended by select dealers from India and abroad.

Codenamed T1N, the Urbania was first shown at the 2020 Auto Expo. It appears that the release plan has been delayed due to the pandemic. Currently, serial production of Urbania has started. Force Motors has opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility dedicated to this next-generation shared mobility platform. The first batch of Urbania should start reaching dealerships soon.

Force Motors Urbania – Segment Priority Features
Urbania is a huge leap forward from its competitors as it has a number of features previously unseen in this segment. For example, India’s first all-ground, next-generation modular monocoque panel van platform. Safety is enhanced with Hill Hold Assist, ESP, ABS, EBD, ETDC and front ventilated disc brakes.

Urbania is the first in the country to comply with crash, rollover and pedestrian safety regulations. These features are not even mandated for this segment under current Indian legislation. Essentially, Urbania is future-proof. It is also equipped with driver and front passenger airbags.

Passengers can expect optimum comfort. Because Urbania is the first in the industry to introduce an independent front suspension with transverse springs. The Urbania uses a two-box construction with the engine completely external. This ensures minimal NVH in the passenger compartment. Other passenger comforts include best-in-class cabin space, individual AC vents, reclining seats, sealed panoramic windows, individual reading lights and USB ports.

Driver comfort and convenience, such as a car-like steering wheel, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column, ergonomically designed cockpit, dashboard-mounted gear lever, 7-inch touchscreen with built-in Bluetooth and camera input, engine start and stop, etc. I was considerate. The Powering Force Motors Urbania is a Mercedes-derived FM 2.6 CR ED TCIC diesel engine. It puts out a maximum output of 115 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. The Urbania is available in short, medium and long wheelbase versions accommodating 10, 13 and 17 passengers respectively. Besides feature updates, Urbania also offers world-class style. Some key features include a bull-inspired, muscular look, segment-first projector lamps and LED DRLs, and LED signature tail lamps with light guide technology.

Urbania has global aspirations and was designed and developed accordingly. It will be available in select markets throughout the Middle East, ASEAN, Africa and South America. It will be positioned as a value-for-money vehicle, especially when compared to expensive products shipped from the US, Europe and the Far East.

Force Motors has invested over Rs 1000 crore to develop a modular monocoque van from scratch and build a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Experts from all over the world have contributed to the development of Urbania. A lot of effort has gone into improving, refining and validating the new platform. In its final form, the Urbania seems poised to meet international performance expectations.
