Outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind took his successor Draupadi Murmu from Rashtrapati Bhavan to Parliament House in the President’s limousine (car) for the swearing-in ceremony on Monday. Along with Kovind, the newly elected President Murmu descended the 31 grand steps of Rashtrapati Bhavan and reached the salute platform, where he took the ‘Presidential Salute’.

The President’s bodyguards sang the national anthem, after which the two were escorted to the President’s limousine, which left the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the ceremonial swearing-in ceremony. With this, the convoy of the President’s bodyguards also left. The President’s bodyguards gave the National Salute to the President on the steps of Gate No. 5 of the Parliament House.

Draupadi Murmu further said that at such a historic time when India is full of energy to achieve the vision of the next 25 years, it is my great privilege to get this responsibility. He said that it is also a coincidence that when the country was celebrating the 50th year of its independence, then my political career started.
