5-Door Maruti Jimny is the new Maruti Gypsy? Know what new features it has to offer

It’s been a long time that pictures of the extended wheelbase version of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny testing on roads have been surfacing on the internet. The final production model which is set to be unveiled at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo will be seen by the world for the first time in January. As per reports its market launch will take place in August. New piece of news directs that this model may be introduced as the new Maruti Gypsy which was discontinued in 2018 due to some reasons.

Gypsy, which has a huge brand recall value in India, is popular among those who love to go off-road due to its strong features although its lightweight. However, the previous model was offered with a three-door layout and optional removable soft top. The new five-door Maruti Jimny may justify the Gypsy rebranding.


The new Jimny will boast a 1.5L K15B petrol engine that comes from the Ciaz sedan. Know that the motor pushes out a maximum output of 102bhp and 130Nm torque. Improvements in fuel economy can be supported by offering mild hybrid technology and reduce emissions. These has been given a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox for transmission duties and also has the AllGrip Pro AWD system with low-ratio gears. There are 2H (2 wheel drive high) and 4H (4 wheel drive high) options.

The five-door Maruti Jimny is pretty long with 1645 mm widith, 1730 mm hight and comes with a wheelbase of 2550 mm. Official details of the SUV has still not be revealed and its expected that they will be known by the next month, but it is expected to have features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and steering-mounted controls.
