418KM range Volvo XC40 Recharge Electric SUV booking starts in India, will charge in just 33 minutes


The premium electric SUV Volvo XC40 Recharge was introduced in India by Volvo. This is the country’s first luxury EV which was made in India. Last year the Volvo XC40 Recharge was introduced in India and in June 2021, Volvo started taking pre-bookings for the vehicle. From today onwards, the Volvo will be offered only on the Volvo India website and will be available for normal booking charges only.

The company’s Hoskote factory in Bangalore is manufacturing the Volvo XC40 Recharge in India. In terms of range, the XC40 Recharge electric SUV can cover a distance of 418 km in a single charge and can be charged rapidly at the rate of 150 kW.

Apart from the 3-year compressive guarantee on the company car, Volvo will also include a third party 11kW wall box charger with 8-year battery warranty, 4-year digital service membership, 3-year Volvo service package along with 3-year roadside assistant. In the Indian market, the Volvo XC40 Recharge can compete with premium models Kia EV6, BMW i4 and Mini Cooper SE.

Specifications of Volvo XC40

Talking about the specifications, the 78kWh battery has been given in the Volvo XC40 with twin motor powertrain. Thanks to its 150kW rapid charging capacity, the battery pack can charge 10 to 80 percent in just 33 minutes. Can be fully charged in 2.5 hours via a 50kW fast charger. The engine generates 480bhp peak power and 660Nm peak torque. The XC40 Recharge can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds. The dual motor configuration of the XC40 Recharge could also come with an AWD layout. The XC40 Recharge can deliver an ARAI certified 418 km range on a single charge.

In terms of features, the primary infotainment system is now Android based and the XC40 Recharge incorporates a new range of digital displays from the XC60 which is much faster. Some apps from the Google Play Store can also be used and based on the onboard e-SIM. Panoramic sunroofs, wireless phone charging, sensor-based ADAS technology with Level 2 autonomous driving, linked car technology, powered front seats with driver-side memory, and a high-end Harman Kardon sound system are all included.
