According to Fortune, Professor Christian Terwiesch published a paper this week mapping the performance of ChatGPT in an operations management paper. According to Terwiesch, chatbots “do an amazing job on basic operations management and process analysis questions, including questions based on case studies.”
Contrasting the impact calculators have had on the business world and the impact ChatGPT may have on academia, Professor Terwiesch said, “Before the introduction of calculators and other computing devices, many companies employed hundreds of employees, who performed mathematical calculations by hand. Tasks such as multiplication or matrix inversion have now been automated, and the value of the skills involved has greatly diminished. Similarly, automation of skills taught in MBA programs can potentially reduce the value of MBA education.”
