As the cold wave continues in northern India, including Uttar Pradesh, all schools in Meerut are closed until the 8th grade. Additionally, class times for classes 9-12 are 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
At Lucknow, classes 1-8 for school students have been moved to 10am-3pm. Schools in Gorakhpur are also closed until January 17th. Educational operations at schools from LKG to Inter will be closed on 16 and 17 January.

On Sunday, the Meteorological Department of India predicted dense to very thick fog in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. from an isolated pocket in Uttar Pradesh.
Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh, and an isolated pocket over Bihar are covered in thick fog, while cold day conditions are also expected over an isolated pocket over Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog settled over parts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, reducing visibility in many areas.
IMD has forecast similar weather conditions in the northwest for the next five days. On Saturday, the Bureau of Meteorology predicted dense fog over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the next five days.
IMD predicted that the minimum temperature in the central region adjacent to northwestern India is likely to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days as northwesterly winds from the Himalayas blow over the plains of northwestern India.
