₹12 lakh stolen from Amazon warehouse in Greater Noida, three held

Three men were arrested Monday on charges of stealing more than 1.2 million rupees after holding security guards hostage and holding them at gunpoint from an Amazon warehouse and delivery station in Surajpur, Greater Noida, on 1 January. .

Two of the suspects previously worked as security guards at a warehouse, police said. The incident took place between December 31st and January 1st around 3:00 am, police said. The suspects have been identified as Raj Kumar, Sachin Kumar and Raja, police said.

“Sachin and Raj Kumar both worked at an Amazon warehouse in Surajpur. Because of that, I knew more cash would be stored in warehouse vaults during festivals and New Year’s Eve. We also knew that between 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning, delivery trucks move less in the warehouse, and that this is the time for night shift workers to eat snacks. They timed their arrival accordingly and held the guards at gunpoint. They took the safe from the checkout counter and ran away. The case was over within minutes.

Cases have been registered against them under sections 392 (robbery), 411 (unreasonably taking stolen goods) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and related provisions of the Armed Forces Act.

According to police, Sachin and Raj worked for a private security company that also serves Amazon. Sachin left the company three months ago, but Raj Kumar was still working for the company, but was assigned to another plant. Their motive for the robbery was to pay the debt and they tied up their friend Raja to help carry it out.

According to Khan, police got their first clue from CCTV footage of the motorcycles the suspects arrived at the scene. Other CCTV footage also helped identify them. Following a tip from an informant, the three suspects were arrested at Raj Kumar’s home in the Shyam Vihar colony.

Police recovered 12,25,631 rupees from the suspect along with the shredder used to break the safe. Three live ammunition and a red Pulsar motorcycle were also confiscated, police said. Police said they had summoned the suspects to a magistrate and sent them to a judicial detention center.
