The National Family Fair in the city has a unique attraction called the Sea Tunnel Aquarium. This tunnel provides a glimpse into the enigmatic marine life environment. When visitors arrive at the fair, they are welcomed by a giant tunnel home to over 400 different species of fish. The National Family Fair is held in two locations: Bengaluru-Kengeri and JP Nagar. This event is being organized by the National Consumer Fair group.
The special thing about this tunnel is that it provides a 360-degree view of the aquatic environment as people pass through it. There are around 500 fish in the aquarium. Angelfish, clownfish, seahorses, wrasses and puffers are some of these special and rarely known species. You will also be able to watch eels and other sea creatures. The aquarium has both freshwater and saltwater fish.
There are also two huge caves inhabited by saltwater fish and 13 small tunnels specially built for freshwater fish. Each species has unique ecological requirements, so they are all kept in specially designed tanks to manage temperature and salinity.
It took almost 8 months to install and build this tunnel aquarium. Considering that it contains 24 rooms and 9 medium sized aquariums, it is claimed by the organizers to be the largest tunnel aquarium in India.
According to a report by The Indian Express, CEO of the National Consumer Fair, Chaitanya Iyengar said the fish were sourced from a variety of sources, from international waters around Thailand to Indian waters off Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The fair was successful not only for the Sea Tunnel Aquarium but also for other exhibits. The Animal Kingdom exhibit inside the National Family Fair is another highlight. It features extinct mammoths, dinosaurs and giant gorillas. The fair also has a variety of stalls where you can buy clothes, handicrafts, local delicacies and other fun trinkets. The fair is open until the end of this month.
