Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday that the state’s monthly goods and services tax (GST) levy exceeded ₹10,000 crore for the third consecutive month. He said Karnataka was behind Maharashtra escaping the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Karnataka’s monthly GST collection has exceeded Rs 10,000 for the third consecutive month, just behind Maharashtra. The positive growth proves that we are on a good growth trajectory and well beyond the negative impact of the Covid-induced slowdown. Proud to boost the national economy,” Bommai tweeted.
According to data provided by the Chief Minister, Maharashtra ranked first with Rs 23,598 crore in December, Karnataka second with Rs 10,061 crore, Gujarat third with Rs 9,238 crore and Tamil Nadu followed with Rs 8,324 crore.
