Hubballi: Man runs to Modi with a garland during his roadshow, questions raised on security

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed Thursday evening in Hubballi, Karnataka, where he opened the 26th National Youth Festival. Arriving in Hubballi, Prime Minister Modi gave a road show and his supporters welcomed him with a shower of flowers.

In the viral video, a man attempted to give Prime Minister Modi a wreath while waving to people in a convoy on the road, and the man broke through the security cover and ran near the PM. The man was immediately taken away by PM’s security forces and local police. However, the prime minister accepted the supporter’s wreath. News agency ANI shared the video on Twitter and wrote, “A young man broke through a bodyguard taken away by him to give Prime Minister Modi a wreath at a road show in Hubballi.”

Since January 12 is National Youth Day, Prime Minister Modi will also address the country’s youth at this youth festival. More than 7,500 delegates from all over the country are expected to attend this youth festival. The theme of this year’s National Youth Festival is “Big Sit Yuba – Big Sit Bharat,” and discussions will focus on five themes covering various fields such as work, industry and innovation, climate change, health, and peace. A special Yogathan, which is expected to mobilize around 100,000 people to do yoga, will also be held and is said to be a key attraction for the five-day youth festival.
