1989 kidnapping case: Mehbooba Mufti’s sister appears in court for the first time, identifies Yasin Malik

Jammu, July 15: Rubia Sayeed, the younger daughter of former Home Minister of the country and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, was kidnapped on 8 December 1989. However, he was later freed. The matter is being heard in the TADA court of Jammu. During the last hearing, the court had ordered Rubia to appear. Following which she reached the TADA court on Friday. Also recorded his statement.

This is the first time that Rubia Saeed, sister of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, appeared in the court. He recorded his statement before the judge, as well as identified the accused Yasin Malik. In the case, CBI counsel Monica Kohli said that a total of 4 accused have been identified by Rubia. The next hearing in this matter will be on August 23.
At the same time, Rubia’s lawyer Anil Sethi said that he has been asked to come again for the next hearing. Yasin Malik was saying that he should be brought personally to Jammu for cross-examination.

However, it is not yet clear whether he will be brought to Jammu or not. Apart from Yasin Malik, Ali Mohammad Mir, Mohammad Zaman Mir, Iqbal Ahmed, Javed Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Rafiq, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Wajahat Bashir, Mehraj-ud-din Sheikh and Shaukat Ahmed Bakshi are also accused in this case.

Actually Rubia was doing MBBS at that time and she was going for internship at Lladd Hospital Srinagar on 8th December 1989. Then a ban came at Chanpura Chowk and many people came out with guns. After that he left after sitting on them. Later, JKLF called a newspaper and told that it had kidnapped the daughter of the Home Minister, after which there was a stir in the whole country. Later the government released 5 terrorists, then Rubiya was left safe by the kidnappers.
