The University of Delhi (DU) held a Centenary Celebration on Friday, 18 November to mark the 75th anniversary of independence and to mark the 100th anniversary of the University’s founding. The slogan of the 100th anniversary run is “Run for DU”. A large number of students, research scholars, teachers, non-academic staff and alumni will be involved in the implementation.
Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra kicked off at the Sports Complex Grounds, attended by Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, Tribal Minister Arjun Munda and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education Vivek Thakur.
The university organizes running under the Fit India movement, a national movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Delhi University organizes the Centennial Run on 18 November under the slogan ‘Run for DU’ to commemorate the 75th anniversary of national independence and the 100th anniversary of academic excellence. Delhi University organizes the run on Friday, 18 November. 8 a.m. on the 18th,” the university said in a statement.
