T20 World Cup: Dangerous batsman’s entry in England’s T20 World Cup team after 3 years

T20 World Cup: England has named Alex Hales in the national team after three years. He has been included in England’s T20 World Cup squad as a substitute for the injured Jonny Bairstow. Hales, an opener capable of playing big shots, was dropped from the team ahead of the 2019 World Cup. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) called it an ‘off the field incident’ at the time, due to which he was suspended. He reportedly tested positive for drug use twice.

England’s limited overs captain at the time, Eoin Morgan, strongly condemned Hales’ behaviour, saying he had “completely disregarded” the team’s values and could not be trusted. Hales’ return also signals a change in England’s policy. Jos Buttler is heading the limited overs team after Morgan retired from international cricket.
