PM Modi inaugurates 9th domestic airport in Karnataka’s Shivamogga

Karnaraka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Karnataka’s Shivamogga to inaugurate the State’s 9th domestic airport. This airport will make way for Central Karnataka people to connect in and around Karnataka easily. It will overall increase the air connectivity for the people of Karnataka. This project has been developed at a cost of ₹450 crore and reportedly, the passenger terminal can handle 300 travellers every hour.

What’s more special about this airport is that it is built in the shape that represents the flower ‘lotus’.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was also present at the scene while he also celebrated his 80th birthday. PM Modi said, “Today is special for one more reason. It’s the birthday of Karnataka’s popular leader BS Yediyurappa.I pray for his long life. He dedicated his life to the welfare of poor people, and farmers. His speech in the Karnataka Assembly last week is an inspiration for everyone leading a public life.”

Along with inauguration of the new airport, PM Modi also laid Foundation stones for various projects which also includes two Railway projects- Shivamogga -Shikaripura – Ranebennur new Railway line and Koteganguru Railway coaching depot. Followed by which PM Modi is scheduled to lay Foundation stone for multiple road development projects which cost around Rs 250 crore including construction of the new bypass road for Shikaripura town on NH 766c.
