Karnataka: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has recently come to power in the state, is getting ready to become a bus conductor. The Congress leader will be seen as a bus conductor on June 11. He will be giving out free tickets to women passenger. The government had announced recently that it will launch the Shakti scheme under which women will be able to travel without any fair. This is implied on only the state run buses. As per officials, the scheme will be launched on Sunday.

Karnataka CM to distribute pink tickets

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will board the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation BMTC bus, which will travel from the Majestic bus station to The Vidhan Sabha. As per the Karnataka Chief Minister office, he will get on the bus around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. After that, he is scheduled to give out ‘pink tickets’ to women present on the bus. The distance between both destinations is around 4 km. This facility was promised by the Congress party in its manifesto along with 4 more promises before the Karnataka assembly elections.

As per information, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman will also be present while the Scheme is launched by Karnataka Government. Meanwhile, CM has asked all Ministers as well as MLAs to make sure that the scheme reaches to all beneficiaries. It has been cleared that the scheme will be applicable to all the women irrespective of their Caste, Creed or any other differences. There were many rumors such as it was a scheme for only working women of the state.

Women should apply for Shakti Smart Card

However, it is necessary that all the women have their Shakti smart card with them. The government has already asked women to apply for it. With this card, women can travel in the state run buses from June 11 for free. Until then, if they would like to avail the benefits of the scheme, before having a smart card, they must carry a government photo ID card. The ID must have their residential address on it. It has also been announced that the Shakti smart card will be necessary after 3 months from June 11. The benefits of this scheme can also be enjoyed by the transgender community in Karnataka.
