India: Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh is in Karnataka’s Bengaluru. On Friday, he chaired a meeting of Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Defence particularly regarding ‘Self-reliance in Defence Manufacturing’. During his speech, he stressed on how the Indian government right now is strengthening over the security of the country. The government is continuously making efforts to enhance the security on borders he said.

Along with that, it is necessary that the armed forces are Technologically advanced so that they can overcome any circumstance. This will especially help in fighting with challenges that get created due to ever-evolving global scenarios. Keeping in mind these requirements many important steps have been already taken till today. Their has been a considerable rise in the defence budget. This also includes capital outlay, setting aside of a impressive 75 per cent of the defence capital procurement budget for the domestic industry for FY 2023-24 and generating of positive indigenisation lists.

Rajnath Singh also highlighted how the government’s steps are finally enjoying the fruits of success. Today India boasts of indigenously manufacturing several defence submarines, fighter jets, helicopters as well as weapons. This is a huge achievement for India and a big step in Make In India initiative by Prime Minister Modi. The growth in Indian defence sector is not only beneficiary to our own country but also caters to the security requirements of our friendly countries. This results in better relationships with the world.

Production crossed Rupees 1 lakh crore

He stated that in 2022, our defence production crossed Rupees 1 lakh crore, on the other hand, the exports touched rupees 16,000 crore. This shows that the defence sector along with the nation are on the right path. Moreover, he said, that “if we all wish to see India as a defence exporter instead of an importer, we must Stand Together in all circumstances with the ideal mindset of ‘Nation first’. Only then the initiative of the government, ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ will be achievable.
