Modi Government extended Cabinet Secretary’s tenure by one year, who is Rajiv Gauba, know here

Modi Government Decision: The Central Government has given one year extension to Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Friday. This information has been given in an order of the Ministry of Personnel. This is the second extension given to him in this post. In 2019, Rajiv Gauba was appointed to the country’s top bureaucratic post for two years. He was given a one-year extension in August last year.

Rajiv Gauba is a Jharkhand cadre officer

In an order issued on Friday, it was said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of service to Gauba, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre, as Cabinet Secretary for one more year after August 30, 2022.

Rajiv Gauba played an important role in Jammu and Kashmir reorganization

It is said that Rajiv Gauba was instrumental in preparing the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019. Through this act, the state of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two union territories by revoking the special status given to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution. He has held many other responsibilities including Secretary in the Union Ministry of Urban Development, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Born in Punjab, Rajiv Gauba is a Physics graduate from Patna University, Bihar. He was also the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand for 15 months before joining the Central Government in 2016 and returned to the Central service in 2016. Rajiv Gauba represented India on the board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 4 years.
