5G spectrum will strengthen business and data centers

Gautam Adani’s group on Tuesday said it will use the 5G spectrum bought in the auction to build a private network. The Adani Group has bought spectrum in the 26 GHz millimeter wave band for Rs 212 crore, which will enable it to strengthen its business and data centers. Adani Data Networks Ltd (ADNL), a part of Adani Enterprises Ltd, won the rights to use 400 MHz of spectrum in the 26 GHz millimeter wave band for 20 years in an auction that ended on Monday.

The speed and scale of digitization will increase

The Adani Group plans to use the spectrum for data centers as well as its super apps. This super app is being designed to support businesses from electricity distribution to airports and from gas retailing to ports. “The newly acquired 5G spectrum is expected to help create a unified digital platform that will accelerate the pace and scale of digitization of Adani Group’s core infrastructure, primary industry and B2C business portfolio,” the group said in a statement.

Entry into 5G space will help in additional services

The Adani group bought less than one per cent of all spectrum sold in the auction and its purchase price was a tiny fraction of the Rs 1.5 lakh crore bids received by the government. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said the foray of his port-to-energy business house into the industrial 5G space will help his companies offer new additional services.
