Having made just four films, the director has already built a crime action movie universe in Tamil cinema, popularly known as the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). Finding time to support fellow filmmakers and artists despite his busy schedule, Lokesh recently watched Thalapathy Vijay’s latest release, Varisu. According to reports, director Vikram attended an early morning performance of Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu at the prestigious Vettri Theater in Chromepet, Chennai on Wednesday, 11 December. After watching the film, Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed to media representatives how much he enjoyed directing Vamshi Paidipally. The young filmmaker thoroughly enjoyed Varisu and added that it is a ‘refreshing’ watch as after a long break he finally gets to see Thalapathy Vijay in his Family Celebrity.
Lokesh drops updates for Thalapathy 67
Interestingly, during the same media interaction, Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed an exciting update about his next outing with Thalapathy Vijay. This update is tentatively titled Thalapathy 67. January, we have an exciting update. Now, he’s confirmed the same once again, adding that a major update could be unveiled at a special event at Pongal 2023. Lokesh’s confirmation greatly thrilled both Thalapathy Vijay fans and the general audience.

Touted as a gangster thriller, the project is the second collaboration between Lokesh Kanagaraj and Thalapathy Vijay, following the massive success of Master. In a recent interview, the filmmaker hinted that the project is part of the LCU, as are his three popular films, Maanagaram, Kaithi and Vikram. Vijay is touted to play a 40-something gangster in a film featuring Trisha Krishnan as the female lead. Famous Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt will make her debut in Tamil cinema with a lead role in this project.
The project features an outstanding star cast including actor/director Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Arjun Das and many more. Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly is also rumored to be part of the cast. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is reportedly reuniting with the crew of his final outing Vikram, including dialogue writer Rathna Kumar, cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, editor Philomin Raj and music director Anirudh Ravichander, for the cast of Thalapathy Vijay.
