Shah Rukh Khan’s co-star Pathaan is living a box office dream and the film shows no signs of slowing down. Within 9 days of its release, Pathaan crossed the Rs 700 crore mark at the worldwide box office according to trade analyst Ramesh Bala. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film earned 15 million rupees on its second Thursday, bringing its domestic earnings to 364 million rupees.
The film recorded a stunning opening at the domestic box office on Wednesday with Rs 57 million. Since the film was released on a weekday, it had an extended weekend of 5 days and crossed the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide at the time. This made it the highest opening weekend grosser in Hindi film history. Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan has yet to cross the domestic collections of KGF Chapter 2 and Baahubali 2, but only for the Hindi dubbed version of this film. Pathaan is on the verge of breaking Dangal’s record currently worth Rs 387.38 crore (nett).
Pathaan is the fourth film in the newly established YRF espionage universe, following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai and War. Salman Khan had a cameo in Pathaan as his character Tiger. Fans expected that Hrithik would surprise himself as well, but he did not. Siddharth explained to Pinkvilla: I think the last time they did an action together was in 1996 with Karan Arjun. Fortunately, Adi has Tiger’s IP to do this crossover, and the results are fantastic.”
