On Teacher’s Day, UGC launches 5 research grants and fellowships, how to apply

The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday launched five research and fellowships on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday launched five new research and fellowships on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.

Of these, three research schemes and fellowships are for faculty members of higher education institutions, while one is for doctoral and one for post-doctoral scholars.
The last date to apply for all these fellowship and research schemes is October 10.

Fellowship for Retired Faculty Members

This fellowship of UGC is for those faculty members who have retired.

They should not hold any administrative position during the fellowship. Apart from this, their age should not be more than 67 years.
This fellowship will be given to a total of 100 candidates for three years.
The selected candidates will be given Rs 50,000 every month. Apart from this, once a year, Rs 50,000 will be given for emergency.

What should be the qualification?

This fellowship can be availed by candidates who have supervised the research of PhD students and whose three students have obtained PhD degree in the last 10 years. Apart from this, the candidate should also have handled a sponsored project as Principal Investigator.

Research Grant for employed faculty members

This grant is for regular faculty members. In this, 200 candidates will be selected and they will be provided support of Rs 10 lakh for two years.

The age of the candidate for this scholarship should not be more than 50 years.
In addition, the candidate must have supervised the research of five full-time PhD students and completed two sponsored research. This research should be funded by a government or private national or international agency.

Dr DS Kothari Research Grant

Dr DS Kothari Research Grant will be given to newly recruited faculty members.

In this, 132 candidates will be given a fellowship of Rs 10 lakh for two years.
To take advantage of this, the candidate must have completed his PhD with at least five research papers. Apart from this, it is mandatory for him to be appointed to the post of Assistant Professor.
Keep in mind that the candidate has to apply for this fellowship within two years of completing his PhD.

Dr. Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship

This fellowship is for research and advanced studies in science, engineering and technology, humanities, social sciences and Indian languages. It has a total of 900 seats.

To take advantage of this, the age of the general category candidates should be 35 years and the age of the reserved category candidates should be 40 years.
Under this, selected candidates will be given a fellowship of Rs 50,000 every month for three years and Rs 50,000 for emergency once a year.

What should be the qualification?

The candidate applying for this fellowship must have a PhD degree. For this post-doctoral fellowship of UGC, it is necessary that he/she is applying for the first time and has secured a minimum of 55 per cent marks in post-graduation.

Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child

The number of seats for Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child is not fixed. This fellowship will be for five years.

Under this fellowship, single daughters doing junior research fellowship will get Rs 31,000, while candidates doing senior research fellowship will get Rs 35,000 per month.
Apart from this, an emergency fund is also earmarked for the candidates of humanities and social sciences and science, engineering and technology.

What should be the qualification?

The candidate applying for this scholarship must be registered in a full time PhD program. Apart from this, the maximum age of the general category candidate should be 40 years and the maximum age of the reserved category candidate should be 45 years.
