IIT Mandi will host G20-S20 meet, to demonstrate technology-enabled yoga practices

INDIA: Indian Institute of Technology IIT Mandi in Himachal Pradesh made a big announcement on Tuesday. It said that it will be hosting the G20-S20 (Science20) meeting this year. This meeting will begin from June 21 and will end on 30th June 2023. The event will begin on the same day as that of the International yoga day. The event will be participated by Institute researchers who will showcase various Technology enable yoga and meditation practices.

Some of which are posture correcting yoga Mats, as well as AR-VR enabled immersive meditation. The aim is to promote a healthy and Holistic lifestyle. In a Press statement by the institute, it said that the main reason behind the meeting is “to bring together various key stakeholders as well as experts. To engage on several themes such as to generate actionable insights that will potentially drive progress towards achieving inclusive as well as sustainable development”. Many leaders have been invited to attend the event.

Prof Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi shared his thoughts on the upcoming meet and said that the institute is “fully committed to the development of skilled manpower in the sectors related to sustainable development, drone technology, climate-controlled agriculture, cloud computing, AI & Robotics, cyber-physical systems, manufacturing, automation and many more”. He also highlighted how it will have a hand in Indian missions like Make in India. Fulfilling the dream of PM Modi to see India as the Skill Capital of the world.

Some of the important figures that have been invited to the event are K K Pant Director IIT Roorkee along with Pratap Shukla, Governor, Himachal Pradesh; Mukesh Agnihotri, Deputy Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh; Harshwardhan Chauhan, Minister of Industries, Himachal Pradesh; Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Co-Chair S20 and former DST secretary; Satish Kumar, Chairman, ARB. Sukhvinder Singh who is the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh will also be there.
